Finding my way back to Toto

By Toto 2022–early 2024 Entropia Universe

A forgotten login brought me back to a familiar name. Toto returned with modest equipment, new conversations and plenty left to learn.

In 2022 I decided it was time to return to Entropia. First, however, I had to defeat a familiar opponent: the forgotten login. I could no longer remember Miss Izabel Shift's username, password or email address. I suspect the email had belonged to my former wife. My avatar had explored Arkadia successfully; I could not even find the front door.

When I contacted MindArk and provided identification, my understanding of their response was that I should use the older account associated with my real name. Totoian Toto Eleodor was waiting there. After all that time, my unimaginative naming decision had finally proved useful.

Getting reacquainted

I returned almost from scratch. Many mining skills had gone to Alex years earlier, so knowing the world did not mean having all my old abilities. There were familiar activities to pick up and plenty to learn again. A veteran name and a modest setup made an interesting combination.

After my marriage ended, I had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent several years away. I prefer to leave that period in the background; what I remember warmly about returning is the focus of a session, the conversations and the players who made me feel welcome again.

The game gave me things to work towards at my own pace. I could build skills, revisit places and finish a little more of whatever task had caught my attention. No dramatic entrance was required. A finder and somewhere to walk would do nicely.

A little room for the next adventure

During 2023 and early 2024 I kept the gaming budget modest. Online surveys brought in around one hundred dollars. At the beginning of 2024, a poker tournament entered with a freeroll ticket brought an unexpected win of about seven hundred dollars, which I put into Entropia. A fortunate result, rather than a regular funding plan, but a welcome addition to this particular chapter.

From there I concentrated on developing Toto again. The later account history contains the results worth recording; it leaves out the conversations and the many small decisions that made those sessions enjoyable. I am grateful for both the game and the people I met through it.

An old account had become a new beginning. Naturally, I soon found several more things I wanted to do than one evening could reasonably accommodate.
