In spring 2025 I decided that a larger bankroll would give me more freedom in Entropia. I sold my Mod 2350 healing device and the divine and regeneration chips. At the time it felt like exchanging equipment for possibilities. In hindsight, keeping useful equipment had quite a lot going for it too.
I had always liked the idea of making my own shrapnel. Crafting something I could use fitted the way I enjoyed connecting different activities. Unfortunately, that sensible little idea acquired a much larger ambition: perhaps I could craft a big Hall of Fame result, or even an ATH.
A very expensive click
I tried recycle blueprints costing 100 PED per click, with the condition setting pushed all the way up. The slider was at maximum, and apparently so were my expectations. Over the period that followed, I lost most of the bankroll I had assembled.
This was not the result of my usual mining routes or hunting sessions. It was a crafting decision, and a lesson I remember clearly. The later statistics contain successful shrapnel entries, but a list of successes does not show every attempt that came before or after them. A table can look considerably more cheerful than the session it represents.
My updated memories place the equipment sale in spring 2025. I cannot give an exact date for each part of the crafting episode, so this chapter marks that period without pretending I kept a perfect diary at the time.
Back to things I enjoyed
I carried on with lower-level creatures, simpler mining and smaller goals while rebuilding what I could use for future sessions. When circumstances allow, I usually deposit around fifty to one hundred dollars a month, whether the recent runs have gone well or badly. That describes my own hobby budget, not a target for anyone else.
What helped was having activities I enjoyed independently of a headline result. A mission could move forward. Skills could improve. I could take a Trade Terminal finder out and still be doing the profession that brought me here.
I would return to crafting later, particularly to make amplifiers for my own mining. The appeal would be in using what I made. That is a much better reason for me to visit a crafting terminal than expecting the next click to apologise for the previous one.
